* 2170: The first vodka of Artemis was produced from 9 kg of potatoes, a blend of russet, red, and Yukon gold, by Roark Kenrick Mackay and Raymond Jackson. The potatoes were cubed, boiled, mashed, then fermented with yeast for two weeks in a lidded sterilized bucket rigged with a simple double-bubble airlock crafted from tubing. The fermented liquid was then heated in a still made from a modified cooking pot and copper tubing to separate the alcohol vapor from other compounds. After being put through a filter of crushed charcoal made with spent plant stems from hydroponics, the batch was freely served to colonists and entirely consumed within hours.
