Basic Movement
To move around, you can type the cardinal direction you which to move through. A room may have any one (or multiple) cardinal directions available to move through. North, south, east, west, northwest, southwest, northeast, and southeast. For example:
north
n
west
w
northwest
nw

Look
It's important to know that you can look at the room, and you can look at objects or characters. (Help:Look)

look (or l) - look at the room you are standing in

look <target> - look at the object or character you desire
look
look man
look east
look me

Emoting
Emoting is the most important aspect of roleplay. In Untold Dawn, you can emote both in speech and out of it.  (Help:Emote)

The targetting style for emotes is inspired by the same emoting style in other games such as Armageddon MUD. You can emote like this:
Join Untold Dawn's Discord
emote smiles.
Untold Dawn is currently in its alpha stage, and requires an application. Please join our Discord to apply for play.
Others will see: The newbie smiles.

emote smiles at ~man.
Experience in RPIs is not mandatory! Untold Dawn welcomes players that are new to the genre.

Target will see: Newbie smiles at you.

emote With a grin, @ nods at ~man.
Review the Rules
Please review the rules to play Untold Dawn.
Target will see: With a grin, the newbie nods at you.
You can also emote in speech, with the following syntax:
say (with a broad gesture) Welcome to Artemis!
tell man (pointing a finger south) The cryo-pods are that way.
Here is a reference list for targeting different pronouns in emotes (credit to ArmageddonMUD):
              <Symbol    Reference                  Target Sees
              ------    ---------                  -----------
                ~      (sdesc)                    you
                !      him/her/them              you
                %      (sdesc)'s                  your
                ^      his/her/their              your
                #      he/she/they                you
                &      himself/herself/themself  yourself
                =      (sdesc)'s                  yours
                +      his/hers/theirs            yours</code>

Describing Your Character
Apply to Play
After you go through chargen, you will be able to set a short description and your main description (Help:Bodyparts).
Once you've joined the Discord, you can open a request/ticket (#requests) with answers to the following questions:

However, you can also describe each bodypart individually; for example, you can describe your eyes and if you wear sunglasses, that part of the description will be hidden.
# What is your experience with RPIs or mandatory roleplay environments?
#* If you do not have any experience in RPIs or mandatory roleplay environments, what has motivated you to give it a try?
# Have you ever staffed or contributed to another RPI community?
# Have you ever ever been banned or have had problems in other RPI communities? If you have been banned please be forthcoming, otherwise your application will be automatically denied.
# Do you have a vague idea of your character concept? This does not need to be detailed, and staff are happy to give you a few ideas!
# How did you hear about Untold Dawn?
# Do you know any of the players in the community?

If you type BODYPARTS, you will see a list of all the bodyparts you have and can describe.
Please Note: Untold Dawn is designed as an invitation-only game in an attempt to foster a community with high quality roleplay and without toxicity. To be able to access Untold Dawn, a layer of trust is expected to be built during the invitation process. Please be as transparent as you can in your application.

For example, you might get something like this:
Application Accepted! What's Next?
<bodyparts
Once you have been accepted for play, you will be able to create characters at will in Untold Dawn without having to re-apply.
You have a face (#2478). It is visible if not covered by anything. It can be described.
You have a neck (#2475). It is visible if not covered by anything. It can be described.
...</code>
You can then optionally provide a description for each bodypart with the following command:
bodyparts describe 2478 His face is oval-shaped and features dimpled cheeks.
Go ahead and feel free to play around with these descriptions; you can use them at will. This is completely optional. You can not use this system if you desire.

Another tip is to describe ONE foot (use the right - rfoot) as both.
If you already have a MUD client or a web client, you can connect to the following address:
bodyparts describe <id> Two feet, with ten toes are well kept and clean.

Postures
Host: untold-dawn.com
Postures are how you can pose your character in a room. See Help:Stand or 'help stand' in game to view this helpfile while you play.

* Positions Available: stand, stand at ease, stand at attention, squat, sprawl, slump, sit, prostrate, prone, lie, lounge, lean, kneel
Port: 4000
* Modifiers Available: in, on, under, before, behind, around

Most positions have default modifiers. For example, typing sit on <object> will attempt to sit on the object.
You will only need the basics to get through chargen: a character first name, preferred pronouns, short description, and a very brief physical description. Your character is then 'created' in the Staging Area, allowing you to view tutorials/tips, set detailed descriptions for your character's body (optional), write a biography, and familiarize yourself with commands, all at your own pace.

Voice Customization
Staff are here to help! Reach out to them with the 'wish' command. You may also use that command to notify them when you're ready to enter the game world as a newly awoken Colonist of Artemis.
You can set the sound of your voice with the VOICE command. Talking after customizing your voice will add the descriptor words you choose each time. See Help:Voice for more details.

* voice range <range> - Set your vocal range.
Resources for New Players
* voice accent <accent> - Set the geographic or cultural reference for your accent.
* voice adjective <adjective> - Sets an arbitrary adjective for your voice.

Your QC Chip
* Read the primer on the role of your character in: Colonists.
The Quantum Communications chip (which was implanted upon your acceptance to the Artemis program) allows you to access the QC network, a low-level augmented reality network. There are various software in the QC chip and you can access their respective helpfiles through the following commands:
* Learn the basics of playing the game from the Quickstart Guide to Playing.

* Log into your player dashboard, where you can view your character's relationships, rented items/spaces, and more.
* qc group help - Group management.
* Learn about the the baseline tech level in: Science & Technology.
* qc wallet help - Currency wallets.
* Keep up to date via the current timeline of events.
* qc time - Shows the current game time.

See Help:QC for more details.

Other Commands
