Retooling is an '''OOC MECHANIC''' and should not be used as an IC perk. Please, refrain from doing that, since it would be against the rules.
You can figure out what can and cannot be retooled and for what price with the RETOOL <target> command.

It allows you to customize an object that you own in game '''without altering its value or essence'''.
== Rules ==

You cannot change or add components to the object. You cannot change the object's purpose or make it more expensive. Making it less expensive is fine.
When retooling, you must respect the essence of the craft. Changing a craft from iron to copper, for example, is forbidden.

Staff reserve the right to approve or reject retool requests, but we will try to work with the players to find common ground where there is disagreement.
Adding minor embellishments is allowed, as long as the material is realistic to have at hand for your character. Changing the craft in its entirety is forbidden. For example, if you make a desk, and you want to line the insides of it with cloth, make sure the cloth would be readily available and, if so, that is allowed. You must always consider if there are other crafts that fit your requirement and plan better.

'''This is an experimental perk that we're monitoring to see how it goes, that allows us to give players certain cosmetic customization for items that normally cannot have personalization, without having extreme staff workload.'''

== Examples ==
Examples of retooling that are fine:

* Making a cabinet have color and a logo.
* Changing the short description of a mattress to have specific design on it.
* Having a pattern or design on a kitchen knife.

Examples of retooling that are not fine:

* Retooling a piece of clothing. This should be done through tailoring.
* Retooling a room. This should be a [[Construction Project|construction project]].
* Retooling a small medical cabinet to become a huge medical cabinet.
* Retooling a single bed to become a king bed.

== Process ==
To get a retool request, you should open a Discord ticket, have the item you want to use on yourself (or your room).

Specify:
* Where is the item.
* What is the current short description and description of the item.
* What do you want to change it to.

Please review our Patreon page to see how many retools per month you can have.

Retooling allows players to customize recent crafts.

You can figure out what can and cannot be retooled and for what price with the RETOOL <target> command.

Rules[edit | edit source]

When retooling, you must respect the essence of the craft. Changing a craft from iron to copper, for example, is forbidden.
