Founded in 2172 by Director Alisha Morgan, the Artemis Hydroponics Bureau began as a single-room emergency fix for a failing colony. When the Expeditor landed on Artemis in 2170, it carried every tool and seed the colonists would ever have. But by 2171—when Alisha Morgan awoke from cryo-sleep—the agricultural systems were in chaos. Colonists planted what they knew: mint and potatoes flourished in every grow bay. But the rest of the seed stores—many of them irreplaceable—were left untouched, improperly stored, or forgotten entirely.

Morgan, just a trainee, dove in headfirst. In under a year, she reorganized the seed vaults, cataloged thousands of viable cultivars, and wrote up the first strategic rotation plan for Artemisian soil. She drafted requests to pull specific seed lines from deep storage, and within months, she had full command of the colony’s food supply chain.

Her proposal to create a centralized bureau for all food and medicinal production passed with immediate approval. The Artemis Hydroponics Bureau was established with Morgan as Director.

She wasn’t alone in her efforts. Morgan partnered with Genevive Dixon, the sharp-witted octogenarian founder of Verdant Vitae, a pre-launch Earthside agro-genetics initiative. Together, they brought rigor and vision to a planet with no backup plan—developing high-yield, closed-loop agricultural systems capable of supporting thousands.

Today, the AHB is the colony’s lifeline, responsible for:

Strategic cultivation of Earth and hybrid crops under alien conditions

Revival of neglected or endangered seed lines

Development of plant-based medical treatments and psychoactive compounds

Closed-loop oxygen generation via engineered plant ecologies

Partnerships with Verdant Vitae and dome engineers to expand output and resilience

Every leaf, root, and breath of air on Artemis begins in a Bureau tray. The AHB grows more than food—it grows the future.
