CyGene Rapid Response Medical
CyGene RRM is a faction providing the official medical care for the Artemis Expeditor.
On Earth, Cygene is a prominent medical mega-corporation specializing in emergency medical services, basic healthcare, cybernetic prosthetics, and genetic enhancements. Known for making advanced medical technologies accessible in remote and developing areas, CyGene RRM has garnered a reputation for providing medical missions across the Sol System. The company has invested heavily in the Artemis mission as a strategic step to become the leading medical mega-corporation in the new colony.
Structure
CyGene RRM operates in a hierarchical structure that ensures the efficient delivery of healthcare, cybernetic, and genetic enhancement services. Many of these positions are flexible, allowing for higher or lower ranked personnel to perform each other’s duty, a culture that is critical in difficult or remote-access locations.
Emergency Medical Technicians
EMTs are the frontline healthcare providers at CyGene. They are trained in rapid medical response, triage, and handling emergency situations. Their role is crucial for stabilizing patients and providing first aid in high-pressure conditions before further medical care is provided. They serve as the first point of contact between CyGene and the colonists, which makes their ability to build trust vital to the mission’s success. They are trained to fill in for doctors and nurses when none are available.
- EMT Trainee (EMT-1): In-training medical technicians focused on gaining experience. Primarily assist higher-ranked EMTs in emergencies and perform basic procedures.
- EMT Specialist (EMT-2): Experienced EMTs capable of leading response efforts in routine medical emergencies and handling most emergency care independently.
- EMT Lead Specialist (EMT-3): Highly skilled technicians responsible for training Trainees, managing high-risk situations, and leading emergency teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform initial diagnosis and treatment of medical emergencies.
- Transport patients to the clinic or designated treatment locations, ensuring stabilization during transit.
- Provide outreach services to remote areas of the Artemis colony.
- Assist clinical personnel in administering routine health check-ups.
Nurses
Nurses at CyGene act as the backbone of daily medical operations. They assist Doctors and EMTs in delivering both routine and emergency medical services, and their presence helps bridge the gap between rapid emergency response and long-term patient care. They tend to fill in for doctors or EMTs when none are available, due to the flexible nature of CyGene RRM.
Ranks:
- Nursing Assistant (EMT-4): Focused on basic patient care and learning from more experienced colleagues. Provides support in routine check-ups and minor procedures, but is also capable of assisting in rapid response teams.
- Registered Nurse (EMT-5): Handles patient monitoring, treatment administration, and assists in surgeries and complex medical procedures.
- Charge Nurse (EMT-6): Leads nursing teams, trains Nursing Assistants, and takes on responsibilities for critical patient care and management of medical resources.
Doctors
Doctors are the highest-ranking medical professionals involved in direct patient care. They are responsible for performing surgeries, offering advanced medical solutions, and overseeing the EMTs and Nurses.
- Junior Medical Officer (MO-1): Recently certified medical professionals who assist higher-ranked Doctors while developing their skills in complex procedures. They are capable of leading rapid response teams, but it is encouraged to defer those duties to lower-ranked personnel.
- Medical Officer (MO-2): Experienced in handling most medical cases independently, performing surgeries, and overseeing EMTs and Nurses.
- Senior Medical Officer (MO-3): Experts in advanced medical treatments, leading complex surgical operations, and mentoring Junior Medical Officers.
Administrators
Clinic Administrators manage the operational side of a medical facility or mission, ensuring smooth day-to-day activities and effective logistical operations. They also serve as liaisons with the other factions of Artemis to ensure that CyGene’s operations align with broader colony efforts.
Ranks:
- Junior Administrator (ADM-1): Handles basic administrative tasks, supports higher-ranked Administrators, and assists with logistics. They are responsible for recruitment and training of personnel.
- Clinic Administrator (ADM-2): Manages clinic operations, coordinates logistics, and oversees Junior Administrators.
- Senior Clinic Administrator (ADM-3): Leads the administrative team, oversees complex logistical challenges, and ensures efficient clinic operations.
- Senior Administrator of Artemis (ADM-4)
The Senior Administrator oversees all of CyGene’s operations on Artemis. They are responsible for ensuring the mission aligns with CyGene’s corporate goals, managing personnel, and serving as the chief point of contact between CyGene and the Multilateral Base Control (MBC).
The current Senior Administrator is Dr. Adrian Malik.
CyGene RRM Leadership Board
The CyGene RRM Leadership Board oversees the larger vision and direction of all missions, including Artemis. Although not stationed on Artemis, their decisions heavily influence the mission’s funding, corporate policies, and strategic directives.
History
Founded in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in the aftermath of a series of catastrophic flooding on Earth in the 2040s, CyGene RRM was established to address the medical needs of populations displaced by these disasters. The East Asian regions faced severe challenges due to inadequate infrastructure and limited access to medical care. CyGene tackled these problems by deploying mobile clinics equipped with advanced medical drones capable of reaching even the most isolated areas. These drones were designed with autonomous navigation systems, allowing them to bypass difficult terrain, and were equipped with tele-medical capabilities, enabling real-time diagnostics and remote consultations with doctors.
By establishing partnerships with local governments and NGOs, they provided rapid and reliable healthcare solutions where traditional methods had failed. Their ability to solve these pressing healthcare issues led to a significant economic rise, allowing them to reinvest in innovative technologies and expand their operations into new and emerging markets. This economic growth not only made them the leading provider of medical services in inaccessible regions but also enabled them to enter the interplanetary healthcare sector, positioning CyGene as a pioneering force in both Earth-bound and space-based medical services.
Over time, the corporation pivoted to include advanced cybernetic and genetic enhancements, such as neural interface implants, bio-engineered tissue regeneration, and strength-enhancing prosthetics. These innovations allowed them to grow rapidly in the medical technology market and further solidify their position as the premier healthcare provider in remote areas.
Nowadays, their vision is driven by the belief that healthcare, especially in extreme environments, is a right, not a privilege. As a result, CyGene has become well-known for operating in difficult and remote locations, positioning itself as a vital service provider where others were hesitant to step in.
Although CyGene has long been overshadowed by larger and more established medical mega-corporations in the Sol System, the Artemis mission presents an opportunity to establish a dominant foothold in an emerging market, giving Dr. Malik the chance to advance his hidden agenda for profit and power.
Dr. Adrian Malik, one of CyGene’s most ambitious and cunning executives, recognized the potential of the Artemis mission to expand the corporation’s influence. A former military surgeon and expert in cybernetic prosthetics, Dr. Malik had risen through the ranks of CyGene by spearheading several high-profile medical initiatives, earning a reputation for his ruthless efficiency and strategic foresight. Dr. Malik saw Artemis as an opportunity for corporate growth.
Few medical mega-corporations have made substantial investments on Artemis, leaving a gap that CyGene is eager to fill. With expertise in healthcare for remote and inaccessible areas, CyGene RRM sees itself as the ideal candidate to lay the foundation for healthcare in the new colony and generate significant revenue.
Toward the end of the year 2170, Dr. Adrian Malik rose to prominence as the Governor General, after the arrest of Michal Phillips. He held the position only briefly, his time in charge marked by a sense of mistrust and paranoia. Upon calling for martial law, the colonists persuaded Captian Eli Varnell to have Malik taken into custody.
CyGene is currently under the direction of Doctor Michael Samantha Cox, Junior Administrator.
