Hemp is a variety of Cannabis sativa grown for industrial uses, containing low levels of THC (less than 0.3%). It is a cheap material that is used for making textiles, paper, biodegradable plastics and food products.

In the colony of Artemis, hemp seeds were brought for the hydroponic farms. It is one of the easiest seeds to grow and it is widely available, making it a cheap material.
