Merlin
The Material Engineering and Robust Loom Innovation Nexus (MERLIN) is the name of a multifunctional, advanced firmware capable of processing a wide range of materials, for the recycling, semi-assisted design, and automated tailoring of various piece of clothing.
Designed originally by Think!Fa$hi0n to allow independent fashion entrepreneurs a quick and easy in road against more established commercial productions, it focuses on allowing the expression of artistic vision and design while automating many of the processes that would otherwise be required.
Brought along by the Multilateral Base Control on the Artemis mission to help with colonial morale and long-term social normativity, The MERLIN workbench is a piece of equipment now ubiquitous to many colonists for it's reintroduction of more familiar forms of fashion outside of their regulation cryogenic jumpsuits.
Access & Availability[edit | edit source]
Devices that utilize the MERLIN firmware are quite easy to find, and generally sold in the colony.
Complexity[edit | edit source]
The firmware allows for the automated processing and tailoring of cloth. However, it provides an interface for the design of the pieces; the complexity comes from this, with the job of the tailor limited to drafting the best possible designs.
